Our client a leading Contractor in road construction and municipal projects across Ontario is seeking an experienced Grader Operator for their South-Western Ontario operation. The successful candidate will have experience operating various heavy equipment (paving equipment (asphalt paver), shuttlebuggy, bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoe, and loaders) used in the construction and maintenance of roads and other paving projects. This organization is well known for its team environment and is looking to add more depth and experience to their project management group.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may also include general maintenance and visual inspection of equipment such as checking oil levels, greasing the equipment, checking for cracked metal, and worn hydraulic hoses. Ideally, you have proven experience in grading, concrete and asphalt work with specific training in heavy equipment operation. Experience on highway crews is a strong asset. Please note that this is a seasonal position from April/May to Nov/Dec. Students returning to school in September MAY be considered but the preference is for candidates available for the full construction season.

 

Reporting directly to the Shop Foreman/Supervisor, the role involves maintaining and repairing equipment in the company’s maintenance and repair shop and making field service calls to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty construction equipment e.g. bull dozers, loaders, graders, asphalt rollers, asphalt/concrete paving machines, excavators, heavy trucks, etc. on construction sites. Work may involve weekends and overtime as required.
