We are currently working with our client, a developer/asset management firm involved in the retail/commercial/residential space, to find an owner’s rep Project Manager.  Our client is a REIT with significant growth plans.  This role is available due to growth.

With a portfolio of 750 properties totaling 7 million square feet, Or client is one of the largest real estate investment trusts in Canada. Led by an independent and experienced management team, they expect to grow their portfolio of properties with a focus on retail real estate, mixed-use and mid-rise residential.

Reporting to the AVP, Construction, the Project Manager, Construction will lead project team meetings, direct and coordinate project activities in order to ensure deliverable’s are achieved on time and within budget. This role will be based in their Toronto office.

To be considered you will have;

    • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Construction Project Manager in the Retail, Mid-rise and/or High-rise Residential industries a must.
    • University degree and/or related Post-secondary education
    • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, and building codes
    • Must be able to read and thoroughly understand architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural construction drawings
    • Extensive knowledge of construction materials, methods, mechanical and electrical systems
    • Able to visualize the entire project, anticipate areas of risk, and embed solutions in the plans/schedules
    • PMP or LEED designation considered an asset
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage timelines and budgets to ensure delivery of project objectives
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and actions to all project stakeholders
    • Superior analytic, problem solving and negotiating skills
    • Previous experience in developing detailed project plans using project management tools and methodologies
    • Advanced understanding of risk management and procedures
    • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, challenging and constantly changing work environment
    • Strong technical skills (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook); MS Project

In this role you will;

  • Initiate and coordinate budgets and ensure approvals and deliverables are achieved within agreed project schedule and budget
    • Coordinate with planning, third party consultants and municipal authorities to launch projects on approved timelines
    • Review project plans on a weekly basis, prepare and submit weekly status reports, define context and limitations, monitor project deliverables and communicate to senior management any issues that may impact team’s delivery
    • Ongoing troubleshooting and issue resolution; partner with various internal and external resources to seek resolution
    • Report on program results to Senior Management, develop forecasts and develop plans and execute programs
    • Work in collaboration with project teams and various internal stakeholder groups on an ongoing basis
    • Attend and generate minutes for site, real estate and development meetings
    • Tenant coordination on leasing and development sites
    • Coordinate with project close out process
    • General Project administration, and other duties assigned.
